Yes they are heavy but that's a desirable trait. Clamping up a project correctly is far more satisfying and the results are outstanding (parallel pressure is awesome). The heads of these clamps are huge, which makes them extremely useful. I was hesitant to pay a lot of money for clamps. WAX THEM BEFORE GLUING ON THEM. you can never have too many clamps and it's not like competitors offerings are much cheaper. But. Ultimately these are worth the money.
Really help pull all joints together for gluing and keep everything at 90 degrees. Got these for making cabinet doors. They work great.
They seem to be binding up all the time. Keep that in mind if you are planning to use them off the bench.The biggest problem I have had with them is sliding the head up or down the bar. Frustrating to say the least.I would not buy again. These are solid clamps. Nice large handles makes it easy to tighten up.However, while they are solid, these are heavy clamps.
Plus the kit is very convienent. Great clamps for the price. You could get other brands, but these will do a great job for much less money.
They are so much easier to use and the clamping pressure is excellent. When ever I go for glue up now, I reach for the Jet clamps. I would highly recommend them. After owning the Bessey clamps and using them for years, I was under the impression that they where the King of clamps. However, the Jet Clamps have put them to shame.
